hello everyone
i have windows xp pro with 2 user accounts both
got passwords my question is when i start my computer up it logs straight
onto my username without asking for the password and also when i shut down
the computer it logs off my username normally then says shutting but goes
into sleep mode but everything seems to be turned off

Do you by chance mean 'standby mode'? If in standby it of course will come
back as you described.
Shut it down and then check how it boots up.

1. Undo auto logon:

To correct:

Go to Start/Run and type in: control userpasswords2 and press ok.

On the Users tab, left click "your user name" then check that Users Must
Enter A User Name And Password To Use This Computer check box and then click
OK.
