Hello!

I have a strange problem. I am trying to install win2000 or winXP to
system having ( Pentium II processor at 400 Mhz , A brand new 80 GB H
with 8MB buffer , 256 MB SDRAM etc) The system recognizes the H
normally. Then at the windows installation it starts copying the file
as it should do. But when reboots for the very first time, after th
checking of DMA I think, some strange characters appear and It will no
start the windows installation. It just stays there. The same thin
happens with winXP or Win2000.

Any good idea about what should be the problem and if I can solve it

Thank you very much for your help!

I'm not sure if you can handle XP or 2000 on such an old CPU. I assume
you've checked on that though. Try looking in your BOIS and making sure
you're hard drive is listed in the set of boot devices. Might have CD drive
twice then floppy drive so you're comp never looks at your HD to boot.

My spec is identical to yours , but I think your problem is jumper pin
/cable position settings.
What model drive?
