help with windows!

Hello, can I get something straight. I dont have a winxp disk and want to
delete linux with grub. i need the disk to recover mbr. can i borrow my
friends disk and fix the mbr? btw will my files still be intact. thank you.

Is XP still installed? If so boot with a Windows 98 boot floppy and run fdsk
/mbr.

If you friend has a real installation CD (not an OEM Recovery CD), you
may be able to boot form that CD and use its Recovery Console's FIXMBR
and FIXBOOT commands to fix the boot record.

Which will render the system completely unusable for WinXP (assuming
the system partition has been unwisely formatted in the FAT32 file
system). Why would you even suggest such a thing?

Borrow your friends XP CD and install the recovery console - it will become
a boot option and be available for future use.

No it doesn't..I've seen it recommended to get rid of grub and have used it
myself.
