Help with Windows Installer not Earthlink

Every time I try to open a folder (be it from my Desktop or the My
Computer view) Windows Installer pops up trying to install Earthlink
Accelerator, which I do not want and have previously uninstalled. I
have contacted Earthlink about this problem. They suggested I reinstall
and re-uninstall the Earthlink crap. It didn't work. I have done the
same with the actual Windows Installer. I am still having the problem.
Another symptom is that after the Installer is cancelled, a Windows
Explorer search window opens instead of the folder you were trying to
access. Is there ANY way for me to fix this, even if it is an
incomplete uninstall of the Accelerator?
Right now I have the Installer uninstalled, but it still pops up a
window for about half a second every time I open a folder.

Download and run the following utility.

Description of the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility

Search Companion Starts If You Double-Click a Folder

Or type the following commands in the Start>Run dialog box [Winkey +R]

cmd /k REG ADD "HKCR\Drive\Shell" /ve /d none
and
cmd /k REG ADD "HKCR\Directory\Shell" /ve /d none
