Help with nikon digital

S

Steamroller

I have a Nikon coolpix 2500 digital camera and
after not using this camera for a while, I find that my computer (Windows XP
Home) will not recognise it. I get a 'new hardware found wizard when i
turn the camera on and follow
instructions till I get a message saying :

'the file ;ptpusd.dll' on (Unknown) is needed' type the path where the file
is located

I can't find the file anywhere.
I downloaded and installed drivers from Nikon.co.uk - still no joy
any ideas?
I think its a windows problem, I have service pack 1 installed.

Hi, I had the same probl3em with NikonD2300 Coolpix. I
did a search on the start menu looking the c drive. The
search turned up c:\windows\servicepackfiles\i386. I put
the in the box for the path to the file and the
installation continued. resatart your computer, plucg in
the camera and then turn it on. Dont forget to go to my
comjputer and click on the external drive. Right click,
select properties and click the auto start tab. Make your
selection and be sure to click the little box to make it
do it every time, click ok. Bill

The "ptpusd.dll" file is built into Windows XP. You should be able to point
the installer to C:\WINDOWS\Driver Cache\i386\driver.cab (assuming you've
installed XP to the C:\ drive) and it should install correctly. Else, you
should be able to manually browse to that directory via Explorer and extract
the file yourself and then point the installer to the location you extracted
the file to.
