Help with microsoft keyboard layout creator

My problem is that I have downloaded the microsoft keyboard layout creator
(version 1.4) but, although it says it's compatible with my operating system
(Windows XP - I have the 'Home edition') the application does not display the
keyboard layout. When run, the application window is blank.

I tried the 1.3 version in the hope that that will work where the 1.4
version does not: that didn't work either - no keyboard display in the
application window.

I have both .NET Framework 2.0 & 3.0 installed.

Any help or ideas as to why this isn't working for me would be appreciated.

What microsoft keyboard software version are you running,current is v6.1
from
v5.5 from v5.0 v4.1 The layout creator doesnt contain the
software/drivers
for the OS,maybe update the software & the creator will work...

My keyboard driver is:
microsoft 5.1.2600.2180 dd 01/07/2001

I've tried using the 'Update Driver' button (and giving the 'wizard'
permission to search Windows Update) but it returned 'could not find a better
match.'

Could you please explain how I go about installing the newer driver to which
you refer?

.... in theory. Although since I cannot see the layout, I can't do a thing
with it.
