Help with downloading pictures from digital camera to computer, where should it go? How do i downlo

I am planning to sell an item on e-bay. I have taken some digital pictures of the item. I would like to know how to download the pictures to my computer and then attach them to my e-bay selling page. The 1st part about downloading the pictures from my camera to the computer is more important. Thank you for any help you can give me.

If your camera is a USB camera, make sure you have the drivers installed.
Then plug the USP cable (should come with the cam) into a free USB port. XP
should recognize the camera and install it as a removable-media drive. To
verify, explore My Computer and see if there is a new drive listed there.
Once you see your new drive, it's simply a matter of navigating to the
folder where the camera stores your pictures, and doing a copy from that
drive to your hard drive. With my cam, I have to navigate to my F drive and
then down one level from there, but when I plug the USB cable in, a new
window opens up on my desktop showing the camera.
