I have Windows XP SP2 installed on a PC for well over a year and things were
good until today. I believe the AOL spyware program was running a scan when
a power glitch hit my house causing my PC to shut down and reboot. From then
on my PC stopped booting altogether. It is configured with in a SATA RAID 0
configuration using Silicon Image SATA & RAID Drivers with file Si3114r.sys
and the Intel Matrix F6FLPY32 Driver with file iastor.sys. The motherboard
is an ASUS P5AD2-E Premium with Intel Pentium 630 processor. The boot
process works through the RAID initialization processes and even begins to
start Windows XP but then blue screens and constantly reboots. I cannot boot
in safe mode or run the last good boot process at all. I used my Windows XP
installation disk to try and run the Windows Recovery Console but Win XP does
not have the RAID drivers I need and will not run the "Winnt32.exe /cdmcons"
command. I created a bootable floppy and when I use it the PC just keeps
going into Windows, blue screens, and reboots. The blue screen says, "A
problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to
your computer." It then goes on to tell me to disable or uninstall
anti-virus, disk defragmentation, or backup utilities and to run chkdsk /F
and restart my computer. I am not able to do any of these functions since I
can't boot the PC. Under Technical Information on the blue screen it gives
*** STOP:0x00000024 if this is of any help. Please let me know what I can
do to correct Windows so I can boot my PC again. If I have to start again,
is there a way I can recover my data first? Please give me details or links
to helpful web pages if you know of any. Thanks in advance if anyone can
help me get past this problem.
