OK, I'll try to keep this short. Below follows a brief history of my
problems with questions to follow:

1) Few months ago my main profile (of 4) refused to boot up...taskbar
never appeared. First time it happened, a reboot fixed it. Next
time...nada. Funny thing is that the other profiles worked fine.
Tried to fix it, accidently destroyed the profile.

2) I deleted 2 of the remaining profiles (My kids never used them)
and made my wife's the only remaining profile. Worked fine for a
while.

3) Began acting up but before I could figure out what was wrong
problem (1) above hit again, only now I didn't have other profiles to
fall back on.

4) Ran Windows repair by booting off the CD. It created a new,
working, profile (Thank God!) but did not repair the old one.

5) I want to save all of the info in the bad profile (transfer it to
the new one) and then kill it.

Questions:

1) Can anyone explain what is causing the failure to boot? It would
appear to be Explorer but killing the process and restarting it does
not work either. Can it be fixed?...I have been unable to :(

2) How can I create a backup of a profile (with all of the cookies,
etc...) so I when I kill the offending profile I can create a
duplicate backup (I will never have only one profile again...!) Put
Simpler..how do I save all of the info in a new profile and then kill
it?

Thanks in advance

My guess is a bad hard drive that is having data corruption.
