Help! Very Slow Icon display in a window- Forgotten how to do

F

Fabio

Hello All,

I am having the following problem with Windows XP Pro SP1
and up to date version. Whenever I open a directory (in
detailed display mode) with say a large number of image
(.JPEG) files the system is very slow in displaying the
right icon logo. It will first display the complete list
of files with a generic icon picture and then slowly
replace it by the photoshop logo which is correct.
The reason is that it loads in memory a miniature image
of the picture before displaying the logo.

In the past I had this problem and there is a parameter
that must be set to say to XP not to load any miniature
in memory prior to displaying the file icon. When this is
done when you open a directory (detailed list mode) say
with 200 .jpeg files you get the photoshop icon near to
each file in a flash (split second time). I have a 3GHZ
P4 and 2 GB of DDR 400 memory. So it normally rocks.

I have totally forgotten where this command was (maybe in
photoshop but could not find it either) and after having
lost a lot of time trying to find it, I must admit I need
your HELPFUL HAND.

Please any one out thre could tell me where is this
parameter to change.

Thank you very much

Fabio
