Help! Unable to change desktop background

I am unable to change my destop background when using "Control panel",
"Display", "Desktop" tab, specifying a background or "none", then
"Apply" or OK to get out of "Display". The control panel just seems to
ignore my request, and the existing background is unchanged.

I am not sure, but the existing background may have been specified as
a picture on the web.

Help pleaseeeeeeee!

Relax. Under the desktop tab click on Customize Desktop, then the Web
tab. In the Web pages box uncheck all items there. Delete what you
don't want. Then Ok out.

Did you try to right click on a photo and ad it to the desktop?

Hi Pikachu,

Right-click Desktop, Properties
Select Desktop tab, Customize Desktop
In the Web tab, delete all items except "My current homepage"
(uncheck it)
