Help. Script Errors Sending Me Bonkers

A

Anopheles

Seeking Sanity Saviour.

Since upgrading to SP2, I have been getting script errors in IE6 sometimes
so constantly I could use it in court as a defence against some serious
violence (I think -- not tested). I have done the usual thing in
Tool/Options/Advanced/ and ticked the script disablers but this has not
worked. The errors continue to torture me and seriuously threaten my fragile
sanity. I have even considerd dropping IE6 for one of the other browsers.

Please, for the sake of all that is good and proper, help me.

How to get rid of JavaScript Errors

Some users get JavaScript errors because Microsoft Internet Explorer has not
been installed correctly. Specifically, the problem is a result of a two
..dll files not being registered properly. The problem can be solved by
following these instructions:

Click Start, and then click Run.
In the Open box, type: "regsvr32 actxprxy.dll" (without the quotation marks)
Click OK, and then click OK again when you receive the message:
"DllRegisterServer in actxprxy.dll succeeded."
Click Start, and then click Run.
In the Open box, type: "regsvr32 shdocvw.dll" (without the quotation marks)
Click OK, and then click OK again when you receive the message:
DllRegisterServer in shdocvw.dll succeeded.
Shut down and restart your computer."

Javascript not working

This is because the security settings for the internet in
Tool->Options->Security for the particular zone (in the case of your example
Internet) may have scripting disabled.
To enable this go to Tools->Options. Click on the security tab and click on
the internet zone. Click on custom level button and look for Scripting in
the page that comes up. Click on the enable choice and apply the settings.

If these steps do not resolve your problem, or you need help with the above,
please post back to this thread with the details and any error messages.

Hope this helps

Jan :)

Go to Tools | Internet Options | Advanced.
Check the box to Disable script debugging.
Uncheck the box to Display a notification about every script error.

1. You might want to refresh your scripting engine:

or

Sometimes there's a corrupt file in the cache and one must go to Tools |
Internet Options and click Delete Files.

2a. Start>Run>Regsvr32 vbscript.dll

2b. Start>Run>Regsvr32 jscript.dll

(WinXP users who have problems with 2a and 2b, see

5a. IE Tools>Internet Options>Advanced>Browsing>Enable third-party browser

5b. Find the hijacker that caused 5a to be checked (or if none were checked,
check for hijackware anyway):
