Please can someone help - I am having problems - about 60 Folders/subfolders
etc have appeared in my Favorites covering a huge range of topics - they do
not appear when I click on organise, I cannot right click on them to delete
them - and they all open onto pages with "Open Search Web". I have clicked
on Help and there is an uninstall programe, but it has a virus - can anyone
help please??

Install a good firewall - one that blocks unwanted outbound traffic as well
as unwanted inbound traffic. Then when something tries to connect, out of
the ordinary, you will be flagged. At that point you can disallow that
particular instance either once or permanently. A good FREE firewall is
available here:
http://www.zonelabs.com/store/content/catalog/products/sku_list_za.jsp?lid=dbtopnav_za

Then check you system for infestations of viruses, spyware, dialers, key
loggers etc.

Download, install, update and run the following:

If you don't have any antivirus installed, AVG Antivirus (free) from
http://free.grisoft.com/doc/2/lng/us/tpl/v5

Ad-Aware (free) from http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaware/

SpyBot Search and Destroy (free) from
http://www.safer-networking.org/en/download/index.html

Microsoft Anti Spyware (free) from
http://www.microsoft.com/athome/security/spyware/software/default.mspx

Don't ever go clicking things just because a web site, e-mail, popup or
rogue desktop tells you to! If you are not 101% certain what an action will
do - don't perform that action. Control your clicking finger!

Hi thanks for your reply, I have AVG and run weekly, I also have Pop-Up
block on as well! I never just click - and no one has been downloading
apparently! Will try the spy ware programmes, but will these remove all
these rogue files in my Favorites?

SpyBot Search and Destroy is especially good at cleaning out that kind of
crud.

You can also try to empty your favorites the "accepted" and correct way. Go
to Start. Right click on Internet Explorer - then internet properties. Go to
delete files. Place a tick in the box that say delete off-line content.

Have sorted the problem - my daughter had downloaded Messenger Plus, so will

Uninstall MessengerPlus from Add/Remove Programs and reinstall later without
all the extra sponsor stuff, then downloaded the LOP Uninstaller from
http://www.thespykiller.co.uk/downloads.htm

All rogue folders/files have now gone.

Halt! You can uninstall the sponsor software from Messenger without having
to reinstall it. I have done it many times. It is 100% effective.
