Help: Reinstall Japanese IME?

M

Matthew Clark

I'm running XP Pro SP1 with the Japanese IME installed and localized
settings to support native Japanese programs. Unfortunately, the IME
program is starting to have problems loading, causing my taskbar to freeze
up (the taskbar won't respond, the cursor is an hourglass, etc). I'd like
to try un/re-installing the IME to see if perhaps a dll or config setting is
wonky, but I don't see any way to do that and the microsoft site doesn't
have the IME for XP as a separate download. Can anyone help me? If this
gets any worse, I'll have to consider reinstalling XP and I'd really rather
not do that.

Thanks!

Hi Matt:

Unfortunately, IMEs are very difficult to uninstall almost to the
point where they won't uninstall. Also, you can not download the
Japanese IME from MS to use in XP. Those are for Win9X\ME. The
Japanese IME is located on your CD if you have a retail or OEM full
install CD.

I would suggest you try a repair install of XP. Go here for
instructions: http://michaelstevenstech.com/

After the repair install, go to the following web site for complete
comprehensive instructions on how to install and use the Asian IMEs in
Windows XP:

Good luck.
