Help..publishing question

Guest

Being a first time "publisher"..I have encountered a problem which is driving
me bonkers! I have published my site...but when I type in www.mydomain.com
on the internet, I receive a page that tells me my domain name is online and
working but I still need to upload my files...(I've done that several times).
But, if I type in http://www.mydomain.com/index.htm I get my website working
just fine. If I type in http://www.mydomain.com/index.html, I receive the
same message about my domain name being online and working but I still need
to upload my files...??? Can anyone point me in a direction regarding this??
Thanks

Change the name of your home page to index.html

The home page must be named from a list of acceptable names held by the
server, and the highest name on the list will be served in preference to
those lower down. In your case, index.html is higher in the list than
index.htm, and thus gets served as the default page - this is also (at
the momemt) the placeholder page for the web site.

With the web open in FrontPage change your home page name, all links to
that page will be updated, then republish the web using changed pages
only.
