I have lost sound on my computer (I believe this occured
when I removed software from the add/remove programs). I
get the same error message "No active mixer devices
available. You may install mixer devices from the
add/remove hardware wizard in the control panel." Any
suggestions will be much appreciated.

easy,

open the computer, take off the sound card and see the brand and model,
then go to their website and download/install the drivers
if you have built-in sound card get the drivers from the motherboard
manufacture
