Hi
Ok I have just got me a nice new X800XT Pe good price to :) £319
anyway not having much luck with the speeds of this card
I think I have got a bottle neck slowing thing down some place
I think this is what must have been happening with the old 9700 pro
quake 3 timedemo on the 9700 pro = 235fps
on the new X800XT PE = 235 fps
3dmarks went up by about 1000 points and about the same for aquamark
funny thing is I over clocked the CPU to a 3200+ and the fps droped to 219
in quake3.....any idears !!?!?!?
thanks

To a large extent your CPU is a bottleneck. Even so,
overclocking it "might" be causing L2 cache errors which are
being corrected BUT significantly slowing down operations.

Try increasing vCore, and/or increasing heatsink airflow to
get chip cooler. If neither or both of those don't help,
decrease chip speed to determine it's true ceiling. You
might also try testing it with Prime95's Torture Test,
"In-Place Large FFTs" for at least a half-hour, though
ultimately the CPU should be able to run it indefinitely.

Then again, i've no idea if those framerates are in the
ballpark for your CPU + vidcard combination, have you
compared to results others with similar hardware, achieved?

If it's a CPU bottleneck issue, try a more graphically demanding test, like
Doom3.

800x600 = 65 fps same at 1024x768 = 65fps...even on ultra high 64.5 fps

DOOM 3 has a framerate cap. It's supposed to be 60 fps. It also has a habit of
mis-idenifying the amount of ram on the video card. My 128M FX5900 was
identified as having ony 64M. /?You can fix this by editing the DOOM3 cfg file.
It might fix the lag or it mgh not. Check the mouse settings in the game too.
I get this very bad lag with mouse and keyboard at any res
