Hi group

I have a problem with outlook 2003 emails, for security purposes i have any
graphics connected to the email content set so i can choose to accept them or
not, everything works fine until i right click on file and download the
graphics/images, then out look freezes???
I then close the program and it takes a few seconds but then genertaes a
report. Then outlook automatically re loads??

I have done a cclean and run registry mechanic.

any help will be apreciated.

Thanks

I have done a cclean and run registry mechanic

And why do you think you have a problem. Read the above which you posted. Never run any registry cleaning tools. They are all snake oil remedies and do harm to all systems and programs

If you do not know your registry then DO NOT use any reg cleaning tools

How large is the Graphic in question

When you say "freezes", is that permanently, or just for a few minutes?
If the image to download is very large, your network connection not very
fast, and you are connected to a remote Exchange Server, then Outlook
may appear to be freezing while downloading the image.

If Outlook is indeed permanently hung, then you would not be able to
close the program, except with the Task Manager.

P.S. what does the Event Viewer show for the time when Outlook crashes?

Hi Peter, thanks for your responce.

I ran these programs as a last resort after the issue started as i am trying
to sort this out asap, it is effecting my business.
the graphics are not big at all, basically any embeded imagage in the email
cause the issue.

Hi Pat, thanks for your reply.

it seems to be permantly, I right click on the icon in the taskbar and
click close, it then pops a box up saying the program is not responding etc..
the images are not big at all, they are the usual bits that people put in
their emails like logo's, backround images etc..
it is only the images in the page it's self. i can download attachments ok.

the event viewer logs the event as:
!! FIRST LINE !!
type: Error
date:03/10/2008
time:08:08:43
source: microsoft office 11
category: none
event: 1000
user: N/A
computer: computer name

!! SECOND LINE !!
type: Error
date:03/10/2008
time:08:08:43
source: application hang
category: (101)
event: 1002
user: N/A
computer: computer name

I hope this helps, as I am getting desperate as I use this for my business.

Adrian

Unfortunately I cannot see anything useful in the event log entry you
posted. Two things to check:
- can you run Outlook in Safe Mode (Start -> Run -> outlook /safe), and
see if the same thing happens?
- if you have any antivirus software that is integrated in Outlook, can
you try to remove it from Outlook and see if it still happens?

Hooray! I fixed it.

I found out it was only html messages that caused the problem, I have been
using firefox as my main browser and had just got the latest version, on top
of that in a windows update the latest explorer was installed.
i uninstalled fire fox, then downloaded the latest explorer again, and it
was fixed!

thanks for everyones input.
