Help!! My Nvidia Drivers Won't Give Me An SLI Option!!

Scott

I'm running an Asus A8-N Premium board. I have the BIOS set correctly
for SLI, the EZ plug is installed, and the dongle between my two EVGA
6600GT cards is firmly seated. The fans on both cards are spinning so
they both have power. However, when I go into Display Properties >
Setting > Advanced > Geoforce 6600GT > SLI multi-GPU I do NOT get the
option to activate SLI. All I get is the option "To learn more click
here". I've tried the 77.77 drivers from EVGS's website to no avail.
How do I fix this??

Do the cards have the same BIOS version? I think the older drivers would
not permit SLI in this case. You can try the newer 81.84 beta drivers
and see if those will let you use SLI..

I neglected to write that I tried those drivers as well. I just tried
the new card as a single card and the monitor says, "NO SIGNAL". The
card arrived DOA. Go figure..............

I ran into the same problem when I upgraded the drivers in mine. (I have
two XFX 6800 Ultras in SLI.) The trick is to COMPLETELY uninstall the
existing drivers. This may require that you go into the Device Manager and
uninstall the drivers from BOTH cards, although I don't remember if that's
necessary. (Just be sure you don't uninstall the NVIDIA chipset drivers by
mistake. Download them anyway and have them ready, just in case.) Then
reboot.

Now install the new drivers. (After the first installation, you'll get the
result you're now getting.) Reboot.

Install the new drivers AGAIN and reboot. (Do it just like the first,
letting the computer worry about the details.) After the second
installation and reboot, you should get a balloon in the lower right corner
of your WinXP screen asking if you want to enable SLI. Click on the balloon
(NOT on the "X" in the upper right corner of the balloon), and the SLI
configuration window should magically appear.

I discovered the "complete uninstallation and double reinstall" trick
entirely by accident. I haven't seen it documented anywhere.
