You may need to reduce the size of
your Primary Active partition to create
some unallocated space.

I used Acronis Disk Director Suite 10
to accomplish this but there are other
options such as the app. mentioned
in the following article.

Once you have the unallocated space
available...you may need to enter your
BIOS and change the boot order so
you can boot from the Vista disk. From
that point just follow the onscreen
instructions.

Are you using an existing version of Windows to create the partition, or
the Vista install DVD? I'm looking at a screen in the Vista install DVD
which asks "Where do you want to install Windows?" and lists all of my
existing partitions followed by a block of space which is clearly marked
as 'unallocated'.

Are you seeing something different?

I was trying to create a new partition before installing Vista.....thought I
had made that clear, but I geuss not. Thank you for the info! I hadn't
attempted to install yet as I thought I'd have to create a partition 1st, but
now know that Vista will take care of that for me! Thanks again!
