help installing directx

I am trying to install the new Sims2 game. I have been
having problems installing DirectX 9. I get the
message "cabinet file necessary for installation cannot
be trusted". There is only an X to close out, it gives
me no other options. I do not have Service Pack 2
installed on the computer yet...
Any help is appreciated.

Yes, from the MSFT website. That is where I am getting
the error.
