HELP I messed up my registry

A

Amanda

Okay, I posted a message just a few minutes ago...but I
dunno how this works so I am posting it again...
....I went to delete "coolwebsearch" outta my registry. I
did delete all of it. But somehow I think...pretty
positive...I deleted ALL of the .exe's in my computer.
Now I can't open any windows program. It keeps giving me
the error:
windows cannot open this file:
EXAMPLE of ONE it CAN'T Open: msconfig.exe
It says it needs to know who created it or something. How
can I get back my registry info. w/out having to
reinstall? and what the Hell did I do and can i fix it
before my boyfriend finds out i f***ed his computer up?

2) Perhaps if you gave us a more "exact" message, we could assist you.

Please reply in the thread on the newsgroup.

If you dstart your PC and tap F8,
You get options so select:
"Last known good configuration"
You may have to do this more than once.

Not always a fix but often is.

jch,

Hmmmm... Strange - but I see Kelly's response inside the original thread.
If you are not, perhaps you should check your newsreader options and/or the
options of the particular newsgroups you are on if not using the msnews
groups directly.

Does anyone out there know.

I have this 520mb hard drive and.

Can i seperate my Os from my data and not loose data?...

how do u partion and format a hard drive?...

Lately I've been using Kaaza and.

I just installed a brand-new hard drive and XP can't see it.

Why is my 'puter so slowwww? I have this 486.

Why do I get this black screen when I boot up? (Of course, there's nothing
more to read since that's all there is)

How can i partion (why do they always spell it this way?) my hard drive into
C, D, E, F, G, K, M, and Z partions?

What's the best monitor (processor, RAM, motherboard, hard drive, etc.,
etc.)?...

My printer's not working.

I discovered I have 12 viruses on my computer and.

(Responding to a previous posting) Look, you stupid son-of-a.

I'm the IT guy in charge of a network of 350 machines and.

My hard drive makes loud clicking and grinding noises when.

Recently, when I fired up the 'ol PC.

A funny thing happens when I try to shutdown my computer.

I found out I had a bad spot on my hard drive and.

Here's the deal.

When I fired up my 'puter this morning I noticed this odor of burning
rubber.

This is really wierd.

ISN'T THERE SOMEONE ON THIS NEWSGROUP WHO WILL ANSWER MY QUESTION ABOUT.

I know this is a silly (stupid, dumb) question but.

i have this cd-rom i bought in 1996 and.

This probably won't be of much help to you, but.

OK guys, here's one for you.

Lately my 5 ¼" floppy drive has been acting wierd. (yes, that's the way they
spell it)

I have 4 drives spread out over 10 partions and.

Gotta weird one for ya...

Hey,.

After I moved the pagefile.

What the hell is happening when I.

After I modified the MBR and activated the boot record option.

im confused about this bios thingy. (or whatever "thingy")

I lost my product key and.

My HD makes a whirrr-clickclick sound, sometimes a brrrr sound, and.

I'm having a problem with my AOL connection. It seems.

What's a BIOS? I can't seem to find it in my folders.

That *is* strange. What newsreader are you using and what reader options
would make contributions turn into stand-alone items and vice-versa? (none,
I believe) What newsreader are you using?? In my reader (OE), all of the
subsequent postings under Kelly's stand-alone reply are part of the same
thread but Kelly's contribution is not part of a larger thread.
I don't believe I have my OE reader misconfigured. These stand-alone replies
aren't very frequent. Something else is going on and I don't yet understand
how newsgroup articles get tagged and how the different readers work. Any
ideas?

There are around 1000 postings a day to this group, if you are only getting
300 headers at a time then you will experience what you're seeing.

Clue..tools | options | read and uncheck Get, View | Current view | group
messages by conversation.

It's properly threaded in Netscape 7 which I use as the newsreader.
Same with Alex Nichol's messages. Something messed up at your end.
