HELP! I can't send or receive email

Hi Gary, I just thought I'd make a point of telling you that the main email
account seems to be able to send and receive email ok within Windows Mail. It
is of course the additional email account that is the puzzle. This account
happens to be mine! I can retrieve my emails through Sky, but I prefer using
Windows. Surely there must be some explanation for the conflict. Sky have not
been very helpful on the matter; saying they can't offer support for Windows
Mail

Well, it is difficult to lay the blame on your Windows Mail,
since the main email account with the same provider is working
fine. At least you are getting more response from the server
now that you have switched from port 995 to port 110.

If you have compared all the settings between the working
account and the non-working account, and they are identical
except for the username/password, then there is not much
more I can do from this end.

In order to get Sky to support you, consider telling them a
little white lie, that you are running Outlook Express on XP.
The email settings for Windows Mail and Outlook Express are
identical.

Hi Melanie,
I have just joint sky broadband from aol this weekend just gone. I to have
had the same problem as you. I was receiving my mails via Windows mail
(vista) until I added a new email account/email via sky webmail. since then I
stopped receiving via windows mail. I done some investigating and found that
the original sky email address was set up with sky old version wemail and
that when you add a new email/account, all setting transfers to sky new
version by Gmail. I found out that you need to change your pop setting etc in
windows mail. See link below and follow it exactly. I done it and through it
did'nt work. But after restarting windows mail within about 5 to 10 minutes
all my mail popped in. You'll notice the setting are for outlook express 2002
and older don't worry their the same.

Thanks for that information. This sounds like a recent change that
Sky has not promulgated very well to their customers.

I can't send or receive email through Windows Mail or Windows Live Mail Beta
I have followed the instructions from my ISP (Sky) in order to receive mail
through Windows Mail but to no avail. My email is provided by Google. I have
also attempted to set up additional email accounts (which I set up in Sky
first) but they don't work either. I get the following error message:
Unable to send or receive messages for pop.sky.com(1) account. The
connection to server failed. Server pop.sky.com Windows Live Mail Error ID
0X800CCC0E
Protocol POP3 Port 995 Secure yes Socket error 10060
