Your description of your problem is so vague it's almost impossible to
interpret.

However, could I suggest a quick check behind your monitor and behind
your computyer to make sure all the cables between computer<->monitor,
and the power cable to the monitor, are securely plugged in.

(Reminds me of that sound-bite that was doing the rounds of the
internet several years ago, from the WordPerfect Help desk .... help,
can't use my word processing ... questions from help desk ... can't
see it on the screen .... can't click the icon to start it up ....
questions from help desk .... can't see anything on the screen ....
check plugs ... OK, hang on .... all OK ... (finally, after 10-15
minutesof questions) Help suggests go to another computer, try there
.... don't really want to move around the office. might fall over
something, very dark , in the middle of power cut!!!!!!)

Press and hold the left WinKey, then press R
type in> EXPLORER <enter>

It's been known to work,

Perhaps you logged in as another user who's desktop has no icons.

Try looking at at a
post from 2/18/2006. The original question was from Joe Dunn - Missing Icons
in XP Home Edition. I found it by typing "missing icons" in the search
block. Good luck. I had to use the 3rd Method - used reinstallation disk to
repair and it worked fine. Good luck.
