HELP - Going Nuts w/XP Network

M

Mark Rosenbaum

I sure hope someone can give me some advice because I have tried just about
everything I know. Here's the configuration: 2 XP Pro systems setup via a
linksys router. Both machines have been setup for networking and I did run
the network wizard. Both machines have Symantec's 2005 SystemWorks and
Norton Internet Security on them and I have run the self discovery wizard in
Norton to configure the network starting at 10.10.10.0. The shares have
been set on both machines and both machines show up under My Network Places,
so obviously the network name is correct.

Here's the problem: From one machine I can get to any directory/folder or
share on the other machine but when I go the other direction through My
Network Places and click on the other machine It Asks For A Name and
Password. I have tried my name and Administrator with no password because
there is no password to get into the machine. The message that I get reads
as follows:

\\Amd64 is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this
network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if
you have permissions.

Login failure: user account restriction. Possible reasons are blank
passwords not allowed, logon hour restrictions, or a policy restriction has
been enforced.

Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Oh, by the way
\\Amd64 is the machine that I am trying to access and cannot however it do
show up in My Network Places.

Thanks

The message is telling you to give the administrator account an actual
password if you want to use it to access shares on that system...
