help! getting message I don't understand

Hello! Can anyone help me? I'm a total technophobe...
I'm getting this instant pop-up message on my computer
that says, "Windows Messenger" at top of the window and
inside the box it says, "Newer version available. You
must install the newer version in order to continue.
Would you like to do this now?"

The problem is, if I click 'yes' then nothing happens! I
just keep getting box over and over again. But, if I
click "no" the box won't go away.

Any ideas as to what to do and/or why this is happening?
Any help would be most appreciated!! (I'd certainly be
willing to return the favor if possible).
Thanks!

Greetings,

Firstly, remove your saved Passport login in Windows XP, so it can't automatically sign you
in to the service (you can readd this back in the future if you like), click the Start
Button, then click the Control Panel. Then, click User Accounts in the Control Panel. Select
your account name, and then on the left side of the screen, under Related Tasks, click
'Manage my Network Passwords'. In the window that opens, click the Passport.Net\* (Passport)
entry and click 'Remove'.

If the window is still open with the upgrade question, say No, it should now stop trying.

Then install the latest version of Windows Messenger from here:
