help for a friend?

My friend is having this particular problem? with his XP Pro. Apparently
what is
happening is that when he opens Excel documents during the day to edit them
(or Word docs, etc) it puts them under the My Computer folder (or somewhere
in there) in the History
Folder. He is on a small network and uses XP Pro (not sure if the network
setup has anything to do with it). If anyone knows any way to have History
not save a list of opened documents in the History Folder, I will pass it
along.

Thanks!

It strikes me as a desire for security for the files, so I will tell you about a way to take the files out of the History
"Immediately" Set History to keep no days of history, then set the date to tomorrow, and restart, and change the date back.

There is a 'recent document' item at start menu/Properties/start menu tab, Customize button, advanced tab, see checkbox for recent
documents at the bottom

Mark,

Thanks for the help. I have XP Home and when I go through the steps
prescribed and click Advanced, I get the explorer windows. In the left pane,
there is a folder called My Recent Documents. Any way to apply your fix to
XP Home?

Just so I don't cause confusion the question was for XP Pro and I am
assuming that there is a checkbox for recent documents in Pro.

Thanks again.

I must not be describing the location well enough. Perhaps someone else can help you find it. Both home and pro have the setting
there.

I haven't heard back from my friend about finding it on his XP Pro. I am
using classic start menu and when I click customize i see a button that says
clear but not in list below to put check in checkbox.
