Help--Excel keeps crashing

A coworker who uses a Compac PC has suddeny developed this problem:
every time she tries to open Microsoft Excel she gets a message
that says the program has encountered problems and must close.

Any idea what she can do to fix this?

My coworker uses the version of Excel that came with Office 2000.

Probably a corruption of your toolbar customisation file. Locate all files
with
extension .xlb and rename the extension(s) to something like .old
Now try and start XL again.

I have an entire office of Compaq laptops running XP Pro Office 2003.
They open Excel and get BSOD. I will try to rename the .xlb files for
now. Thanks.

Excel 2003 does not suffer from the same issue (AFAIK) as it was fixed in XP
I believe.

If you have a whole host of machines dying on you then it isn't the *.xlb.
I'd be far more inclined to look for an incompatibility with another
program, eg maybe an antivirus, or something like Novell. Would also really
suggest raising a support call with MS as well if it's affecting the entire
office, as you'll want to fix this asap.
