Help: dead A7V!

Hello!

I have unfortunately appeared to have trashed the bios on my a7v after
flashing it, even though it displayed that all was programmed ok, I needed
to update the bios to run a 1.3Ghz duron chip which the old (1006) bios
would not boot with.

The comp turns on, cpu fan and gfx fan spin up, a led on the primary hd
lights up for about 2secs (and flashes again if the soft reset button is
pushed) and the HD LED lights up and stays lit up. Then no further actions,
monitor does not turn on, no post etc. I cleared cmos and removed battery
for 5mins but no change.

Is all lost? Will I need a new bios chip?

All help greatly appreciated

maybe you just dont have the good one.

Try your old cpu. Try setting jumper mode correctly. This could happen if
the new BIOS settings where running the CPU to fast and it would boot.

I have fitted the duron 600 that was in it but it still refuses to boot.
I tried to underclock the 1300 but I couldnt see how to do it, one set of
dip switches has 4 switches and the other has 6, however both sets of tables
for fsb and multiplier have only 4 switches!? which is for which and what
are the other 2 switches for on the larger dip switch?

There was a change in the Doron core when AMD left the Duron 950 and went to
1000 and up to 1300.
The mobo that ran the Duron 950 and smaller would not support the 1000 and
above and I think that was because the 1000 was using a modified T Bird
core.
At least I am pretty sure that was the case here in OZ.
If you read your mobo manual it will tell you exactly where to place the
switches and if you do not have the manual then you can download one from
ASUS.
