Help! Converting to 2007 from 2000

Debbie

Hello all,
We have just installed Access 2007 and are trying to convert the 2000
database to 2007. I converted the database (both FE and BE), enabled the
content and added the trusted locations. I still cannot open anything. I
even tried opening it as a 2000 format but no luck.

When I go to the objects window, the queries are listed but none of the
forms, reports or modules appear and I get an error message saying that the
MainMenu cannot be found or is mispelled. That's the form that is supposed
to be displayed when the database is opened.

I spend hours searching the MS website and haven't found any help. If
anyone has an idea, I'm in desperate need. Thank you.

Can you run the UNCHANGED application in A2007?
Can you open a code window in A2000 and Debug > Compile without
errors? Also Repair & Compact without errors?

Tom,
I get the same results in either state.
I cannot view any code window because none of the objects that contain the
code are showing up in the objects window.
I was able to compact and repair.

I was thinking, someone else installed A2007 and if they didn't do a full
install, i.e. chose the default, would that make a difference?
Thanks for your prompt reply.

I think you just said you cannot view the code in A2000 either. Maybe
it's not there? That's the case when you are speaking of an MDE file
rather than an MDB. Or even an MDE file that was (stupidly) renamed to
MDB. Bottom line: if you cannot see the code in the unchanged app in
A2000, you have to first find it.

Tom,
Thanks for your prompt reply. I think I misunderstood your last append.
What I meant was I could open the db when I opend A2007 and opened the db
BEFORE it was converted. I think you are asking me if I can open the db in
A2000 and the answer is yes. Sorry for the misunderstanding.

I'm stumped. I'm not sure what to try next other than going back to 2000.
Thanks for your help.

Did you install Office 2007 SP1? If not I would try that first. A
perfectly normal A2000 db should be able to be upgraded to A2007
without all this grief. Many people including myself have done that.

Perhaps you could start with an empty A2007 db and use External Data >
Import > Access to import all objects from the A2000 db.

Tom,
You were right, the objects weren't there! All this time I was testing the
conversion with my test copy. I cannot imagine what has happened but that is
the case. I know the db was being used on Friday, it is a prod app and I
cannot imagine what happened between then and today. Thanks for your help.
