My home computer (XP Home) was recently hijacked. I used a variety of
spyware programs (Spybot, Anti-Spyware, Adware and Spy Sweeper) and they
found a variety of things to be removed. I've rebooted the machine so
everything should be fine. Yet when I now try and access any site which
requires a login/password, upon entering the information, I get "This page
cannot be displayed". This applies to several of the Microsoft support and
download pages. Similarly when I try to upgrade to SP2 I get a "We're
Sorry... Windows Update has encountered an error..." message.
Did I inadvertenly change a security setting or other feature which is now
preventing me from accessing certain types of web pages?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
