Help - Cannot change Vista Windows Mail Storage Folder

G

Guest

Someone please help me.

I have tried to change the storage folder for my Vista Windows Mail but each
time I restart Windows Mail (as required after choosing my new location), it
returns to its default location.

I was logged in as Vista Administrator and opened Windows Mail as
Administrator.

After you have made your selection and closed you need to click on
Apply and OK. It is easy to miss the Apply button on the Options
window.

Hope this helps.

Does the new location already exist on your local hard drive and do you have
full permissions for it?

Make sure that the destination directory exists and then take ownership of
it and set the permissions. Then it should work.

I tried CowDoc's method and still can't get it to work...I've tried both
creating a new folder and, using an existing one (with all permissions
allowed)
but to no avail...any suggestions on how to get Vista to spit out an
error/debug message of some kind (assuming this is really a permissions issue
and not a bug) and what log/event to look at?

On my last attempt (doing the standard Windows procedure for changing the
store location) my store was indeed relocated upon exiting Mail....the only
thing I can think of that I did differently this last time was that I was
distracted and so did not close Windows Mail for some minutes after doing the
the store location change procedure...note also that I browsed around with
some menus within Windows Mail before shutting it down.
