Help! Can I bring back my distribution list!

I wanted to remove a contact from a distribution list I had setup in
Outlook XP. This is a big distribution list that I've spent many months
building that I use to send out announcements and such a couple times a
year. Well, one person has moved across the country and asked to be
removed. So I open up the address book, and double click on the
distribution list. It lists all the members. Note that many of the
members are NOT contacts in my address book - just their email address
is hard coded into the distribution list.

Now, I click on this one person's name, and click the Delete button,
thinking it will remove them from the distribution list. Wrong. It
deleted the entire distribution list. Without asking me if I was sure.
Without warning me that this is what was happening. It just up and
did it. (Upon closer inspection, I see that there is a button titled
Remove, which I sense is to Remove the single, selected contact, but why
in the world does the delete icon in the toolbar delete the ENTIRE
distribution list without ASKING me if that's really what I want to do!?!?)

Is there anyway to recover a distribution list once it's been deleted?

Thanks in advance...

Did you check your Deleted Items folder?

YOU ARE A GODSEND! That is so cool, I didn't think to look there, I
always assumed that the Deleted Items folder contained just deleted
emails (but then, I guess, it would have been called Deleted Emails, no?).

For the benefit of others, I found the deleted distribution list at the
bottom of the Deleted Items folder. I right-clicked on it and chose to
Move it to the Contacts folder. Voila, life is good again.

Sue, since you are an Outlook MVP and therefore have contact with
Microsoft, I would encourage you to let whomever is responsible know of
that horrid usability feature of not confirming if you want to delete a
distribution list (if they're not already aware of it). I've yet to
install Outlook 2k3, so maybe it was fixed there...

Thanks!
