Help bought xp pro and want to put "old" xp home on another comput

hi i have 3 computers and 2 licensed copies of xp home, one licensed copy of
xp pro i want to put xp pro on my comp (has home now) and put the home ed. on
my kids comp. (has 98 SE) now
1. can i do this without a activation glitch? hardware on both comps different

Are these retail versions (i.e., *not* and OEM version)? If retail, are
they full or upgrade versions?

Provided it is a 'retail' CD, not one of the OEM ones that are licensed
solely to the initial machine, you can transfer things in the way you
suggest. When it comes to activation, if it is more than 120 days since
you last did it, you will find it will go through on the net just like
first time. If not, you will have to phone a toll-free number that will
be given, to explain and swap one long number for another to check back
as you type it in.

Any Upgrade CD also needs a 'qualifying' windows of its very own in
support of the license - you probably have one such CD per machine, but
be aware of the point and don't give old CDs away if needed in this way

Assuming a retail license (OEM licenses are not transferable under
any circumstances), simply remove WinXP from the computer it is
currently on, and install it onto the new one. If it's been more than
120 days since you last activated that specific Product Key, you'll
most likely be able to activate via the Internet without problem. If
it's been less, you might have to make a 5 minute phone call.
