Having trouble with Monitor

Hi all, I am new to the forums. I am having trouble with my monitor.
first off......I should tell ya I am trying to build this p.c(
different parts and hardware) I have a rebuilt Aptiva I B M,win-98. I
am trying to find a monitor that will work with this. I have hooked up
several......green light turns on then turns yellow(black screen) I
was told by my buddie, a soldier in Iraq,that I may need a video card.
I hooked up a different monitor today :shock: ....It comes on but
displays nothing but a bold OVERRIDE message. any Ideas or
sugestions???? any help will be gladly appreciated!!!

Sounds like the resolution/refresh rate is set too high for the
monitors you are trying to use. Do you see anything when the system is
booting up? If yes, then did you try booting up in safe mode?

Can you tell if the machine continues to boot even though there is no video
activity?
