Having difficulty unprotecting form in Word

I have a word template with a form that was created in Word 97-2003. When
trying to update the form (in Word 2007) I'm not able to unprotect the
document. any suggestions?

What happens when you try to unprotect it? Nothing? A request for a password?
Something else?

As a last resort, open a new blank document. On the Insert tab of the ribbon,
click the down arrow next to the Object button and choose Text From File. Select
the locked form and click OK. The copy in the new document will be unprotected.

Hi, Jay and EG,

maybe it's the same problem as I described in "Password error from
Word2003 to Word2007" (sorry, I saw this thread too late)?
Word2007 then says it is an incorrect password.
