Have virus in msconfig32.exe file. How do I remove?

I have received a w32.spybot.worm virus that has lodged
itself in my system32\msconfig32.exe file? I have tried
to delete file, but dont have access. What can I do to
remove this virus? I have McAfee, but it cant remove
it. Do I need to delete XP totally and reload? Help!

Hi,

Rename regedit.exe to regedit.com and follow the rest of the procedure.

Hi... I'm having the same problem... when you say "follow the rest of
the procedure" what do you mean?

Norton was unsuccessful at repairing or quarantining MSconfig32.exe,
and now it's asking me if I should delete it...

Someone told me that it's safe to delete it because, in fact, it's not
a valid xp file... but I'm unsure about that, can you help???
