Have to send email twice

J

Joel R

Hi! I have to send most of my emails twice, as I usually
get this message after the first attempt:
System Administrator: Undeliverable: (name of email)
Your message did not reach some or all of the intended
recipients.

Subject: (email subject)
Sent: 11/14/2003 3:37 PM

The following recipient(s) could not be reached:

'(person sent to)' on 11/14/2003 3:37 PM
553 sorry, that domain isn't allowed to be
relayed thru this MTA (#5.7.1)

What in the world is Outlook 2002 doing? It is willy-
nilly, happening more often than not, and always
happening if I hit "send" while offline. However, it
sometimes (rarely) happens if I send while I am online,
too.

Any help?
Thanks!
Joel R.

Does your ISP require SMTP Authentication to send e-mail? If yes, do you
have this option enabled in Outlook 2002?

Someone please solve this one....I too have this problem sometimes...It only
started with Outlook and my ISP has not changed......This worked for a while
and now back to the 553 messages. To resolve I have to "send/receive" then
I can sent the current message.......There has to be a setting somewhere
that causes this problem.

As Mark said, your ISP probably requires authentication to your outgoing
mail server. The 553 error is telling you that your ISP does not permit
unauthorized "relaying" of third party mail through its servers. It may be
blocking all third party mail or just certain domains.
