Have to Login twice to windows..?

I have to Logon twice to windows before I can access my account.

I logon, then my screen saver pops up immediately, I hit enter, my desk top
shows for a few seconds, then I am returned back to the logon screen. I have
not been able to find a common denominator to why this happens.

Has anyone had this weird occurance. I have had XP for almost three years.
This starting happening about six months ago. I update windows, but only
critical updates.

I would appreciate any suggestions on what to do.

thanks in advance....Irene

Hi Irene,

First, disable the Screensaver. Go Start Control Panel to Display. Click
on Screen Saver. Set Screen Saver to None and click Apply. Now click on
Power under Monitor Power. choose your Power scheme, but whichever one you
choose, set Turn off monitor to After 5 minutes. Click Apply then OK and
click OK.

Reboot to test.

Question: Why did you install a Password to log into your User ID? Do
others have use of your computer?

Reason for disabling the Screen Saver? Saves electricity and having the
Monitor on, but in a Standby Mode, saves the display from constantly
working.

Hi thecreator,
I will do the following and test. I really appreciate your input.

Yes, I have others on the computer. Two boys. I have open access to the
internet and they don't... :)

My account is also the 'admin account' but I'm considering creating another
account to be the admin, I've gotten mixed feedback on this.

thanks again...Irene
