Have to log in each time after screensaver

I'm using Windows XP Pro, and every time I interrupt the screen saver, the
desktop flashes onto the screen but then it immediately switches to the user
login screen and I have to log in again. It didn't do this until recently,
and I can't find a setting anywhere that prevents it. The screensaver itself
is not set to use a password.

If by 'interrupt the screen saver you mean,
after the computer is idle long enough to activate the screensaver, at which time you have to re-enter the password to log back on, you can resolve this by going to
Display Properties. You will find this by going to
Start>control panel>display>Screensaver Tab.
You can change how you pc acts after it has been idle, among other things.
Find the Monitor Power, click Power>advanced>and clear the box that says 'prompt for password when commuter resumes from standby.'

Thanks, but 'prompt for password when commuter resumes from standby' was
not checked (I'd already looked at that). I've also got all the power-saving
options disabled -- everything's set to always on.

I don't have to enter a password, because I've got my user account set up
with a blank password, but I do have to click on a user even though there's
only one displayed.

I've got two other PCs running XP Pro, and neither of them requests me to
log in after deactivating the screen saver. As near as I can tell, all three
are set up the same way.
