Have one contact file for new, one for old contacts

I recently moved and want to have two contacts lists. One for contacts in my
new location and one for my old location. I would like to archive my old
contacts and than be able to switch between the two files. I do not want to
"Categorize"

So, what's stopping you? File>New>Folder.

Just for a few bits of extra info:

#1 - As stated by others, you can create as many contact folders as you want
but.....
#2 - You can also create a new PST file and create a contact folder in there
keeping the separation complete should that prove useful for any reason.

Not sure what you mean by wanting to "switch" between the two (old and new).
Whichever above approach you choose to follow, the contact folders will be
available. Just one caveat to remember, should you add a new contact via
their email address (clicking on the email addy and then selecting "add to
Outlook contacts" - those will be added to your <default> contact folder
only. To create a contact in any other folder, you will have to explicitly
add the contact from within that specific folder.

Why do you not want to "categorize"? By far the simplest...
