Have MS fixed the search (but can't find files) problem with Vista yet?

When i first got Vista it had a problem - it couldn't find files that where
right there in front of my eyes

As a result it was recommended i turn off wonderful new indexing 'feature' -
which i did, and it can now see all files

But i would like to benefit from speed of indexing - but only if it can see
stuff

That isn't a problem, it's a "feature".

(Usually that's a joke, but in this case, the difficulties encountered
in using Vista Search are specifically designed in by MS).

I use Agent Ransack as it has an intuitive interface. For the number
of times I need to search for something, the speed is fine.
