Using PowerPoint 2002 - I like to add comments to shapes that I place
on presentations, but they don't move with the shape. Is there anyway
to have a comment move with an object or achive commenting that
follows shapes they are relevant to when the shape is moved?

Thanks,
Richard

One way would be to group the objects.

Select each of the objects and right click, then select "group". This will
form them all into a single object that can be moved/animated together.

Thanks for the reply Bill, but comments added from the Insert menu
don't appear to be groupable like drawing shapes. It's probably not
possible.

You are correct, of course. Meatware memory leak.

Let me look into a couple of other options

That's true of comments in PPT 2002 and later. And by the way, these aren't visible
in earlier versions of PowerPoint.

We have an inexpensive "Plus" upgrade to our free PPTools starter set that lets you
insert "pre-2002-style" comments in PowerPoint 2002 and later. These are visible in
earlier versions of PPT and can be grouped in all versions.

Or you could "fake it" with Sonia's Quick Tip #16 using screen tips:
http://www.soniacoleman.com/Tutorials/PowerPoint/quicktricks.htm#16. Display e
xplanatory%20text%20on%20mouse-over

Good one. Between the one and the other, you can choose whether you want comments
visible only on mouseover, per shape or all on/all off.

But hey, Sonia ... any chance of converting this:

<a name="16. Display explanatory text on mouse-over">

to this

<a name="16.%20Display%20explanatory%20text%20on%20mouse-over">
or maybe
<a name="16._Display_explanatory_text_on_mouse-over">

(and likewise the other name= refs?)

With spaces, they work ok as links within the page, but not from outside (ie once on
the tips page, no problemo, but Glenna's link doesn't get you to the named
destination)
