Hated question, but.....

I just built my own machine a year ago. I plan on helping a novice friend
put a system together in the next week or so. I really don't feel like
going through all of the research I went through with my system. I ended up
with a Gigabyte 7VAXP/AMD 2800+.

I think he's going to pick a similar AMD chip ( 2500+ - 3000+ range).
What's a decent price/value mobo/cpu combo? I'll probably buy a prebuilt
barebones ( case, psu, mobo/cpu, memory ) and then add the video/HD/audio
stuff here.

Anyone wanna throw some good mobo/cpu combo's my way?

Have had good experiences on the budget end with a Syntax KT266 with sound,
lan, usb2 and 4X agp. £25

I have my eye on a GA-7N400 Pro2 at £80 with 2 ATA and SATA controllers with
raid, firewire, usb, sound, lan

I think nForce2 chipset is ment to be good. There are alternatives without
the SATA and extra IDE controller if there not needed among the gigabyte
range.
