Hard to remove AudioHQ control panel applet

Hello, somehow I wound up with 2 Creative Labs Soundblaster Audio HQ icons
in my control panel. One of them is fully functional and seems to work
fine. The second one seems to be a dead applet that does nothing when it
is clicked on. I would like to remove it/eliminate it entirely from the
computer, but have been unable to figure out how to do it. Have
uninstalled/reinstalled/uninstalled the Soundblaster software but the
errant applet won't go away. Does anyone know of a relatively safe way to
get rid of this applet/icon?

Thanks for any help or advice.

.
Do a search for *.cpl
This will list all control panel extensions. Sort by name.
There should be 2 for AudioHQ with slightly different
names(maybe not - I'm going from memory here). Write down
their names and the folder they are in (should be the
same). Determine which one is correct by opening them
from their folder. Record and delete the bad one.
Next edit your registry to delete the key to the bad
AudHQ.cpl. Start>run - regedit. Edit menu > find. Type in
the name of the bad AudHQ recorded earlier.
Reboot

I just remembered how I found the bad AudHX control panel
extension. Use tweakUI(available from microsoft), go to
control panel and in there are 2 listings for AudHQ.
Uncheck one. Go to control panel and see if the one
listed is correct. If not go back to TweakUI and uncheck
the bad and check the good. Again go to control panel to
make sure it works. Then go into the registry and delete
the key for the bad.
Hope this helps. I have completely removed all Creative
software from my system.

Thanks for the tips. I found the cpl file for the bad icon link to
Audio HQ in the WinSys32 files and renamed the bad one. That took it
out of the control panel. Figured I'd try to delete it in a day or two
once I'm sure it hasn't caused any other problems. Your advice seems
to be on track and is much appreciated.
