I have a 40 gig drive that is now full.
I going to upgrade it to 80 gigs or more.
The Question:
I am looking for experience.
What hard drive is best for XP Pro that runns mostly Access databases?
What rpm? What Cashe? What seek time?
What do you use and why?

I have:
2.4 mhz cpu
1 gig ram

I am looking for Performance.

Stick with Western Digital,
They last forever and you don't have to worry about setup.
It's all programmed in.
After installing it, boot into your BIOS and let it recognize the new drive.

I use an IDE interface to twoWD 7200rpm drives with 8 MB cache. 7200 rpm
drives are the fastest (least seek time) for IDE. 8 mb because nothing
larger was available when I upgraded.

If I were to be configuring a system today, I would use WD SATA drives
(preferably 10000 rpm) with 16 mb cache. These are the fastest one
currently available for the home market. Next year might be different.
