hard drive with 2 drive letters

I have an 80GB drive in my system and I just reformatted it. The
strange thing is that it now has 2 drive letters; in my computer or
windows explorer it is listed as drive J and as drive L. Is there a way
to fix it so that it only has a single drive letter? Oh, it is not
compressed.

Run regedit.exe and navigate to HKLM\SYSTEM\MountedDevices.
Now delete \DosDevices\L: on the right and reboot the machine.

Is the computer dual booting? If yes what operating systems?

Hope this helps.
