hard drive error

I have a 250 Gb Hdd in this system. The Bios reports correctly and appears
not errors.
Windows XP only report 130Gb of hard disk This was the amount of free space
that the frice had before this problem happened. Tryed reinstalling the OS.
The OS only found the empty space as unalocated space. How do I recover the
other 100 Gb.

THere is data on that area that I would like if possible to recover but it
is not nessary. It can be rebuilt. Sensive data was backed up (thankfully).

Thanks

James

Mopst likely you have a XP installation without either SP1 or SP2 . They're
needed for you get access to the missing HD space...

It was working. All I did was remove a CDrom from the box.

It gets part way throug the boot then crashes.

Did you do this? You say you did.

If you did, and you used an original XP CD, without SP1 or SP2, that is your
problem. You need at least SP1 to see the full drive.

You need to be running at least SP1 to use more than 130gb.
