Hard Disk Device Drivers Problem

Trying to install Home Basic. Running two separate internal hard disks - a
Maxtor 7L300R0 (comes up as 6L300R0 on Maxtor's site) 300gig and a no-name
40gig the computer came with. When I try to install, setup informs me that
it cannot install to either drive and gives me the option to reinstall the
drivers for either or both drives. I don't have the drivers, and I'm not
sure that's what's actually wrong here in the first place. Other details:

Doing a clean install because a) we've got XPPro and b) we found out it's a
ripped copy. Intel P4 2.8ghz processor. 1gig no-name RAM. Running the
setup program that pops up when I put the Vista disc in. 30 gigs free on the
40 gig drive, 87 gigs free on the 300 gig drive.

Help me out!

Go to the motherboard manufacturer website and look for Vista x86 compatible
chipset drivers and/or ide controller drivers.
