hangs / error message

just about every 5 minutes or so while I am on the internet, 1 of two things
happens. Either my ie will stop responding and I'll get an error message
saying "internet explorer has experienced a probalem and needs to close" then
it ask me if I was to send this report to Microsoft. Whether I clcik send or
don't send, my internet explorer closes down. Or the other things that will
happen is I'll go to type in another web page and it will just freeze up to
the point that i'll have to control-alt-delete to close program and reopen
ie. searching for answers that may help me resolve this. I am usng IE6, and
windows xp. I tried the ie7 beta version and it did it more frequently so I
uninstalled that and went back to IE6
